Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in party planning, home renovation, organization and art. Hope you have a nice stay!

Forecast in Brooklyn...Shower of Desserts!

Forecast in Brooklyn...Shower of Desserts!

“Make it rain desserts!”

At the time, my sister was living in Brooklyn, but – because of logistics –was getting married in New Jersey. I was determined to make the Brooklyn bridal shower of her dreams. It was a surprise. My only instructions? “Make it rain desserts!”

And, thus, the desserts rained.

SURPRISE!!!

We held the shower at 61 Local in Cobble Hill. They have a great event space upstairs and allowed us to bring in our own desserts (so many desserts.)

The food was simple and delicious, but the real star was the dessert table... Baileys Butterscotch Brownies, Strawberry Lemon Cheesecake, Flourless Coconut Lime Cake, Assorted French Macarons, Dark Chocolate Caramel Corn (Local 61), Momofuku Cake Truffles, Assorted Momofuku Cookies, S'mores Bars, Mazzola Bakery Bundt Cakes, Chocolate Fudge Sandwiches, Lemon Meringue Cookies... and a candy bar. Phew.

The candy bar was all shades of blue, green and brown; Blue Shimmer Gum Balls, Mint Cookie Malted Milk Balls, Jelly Belly Jewel Blueberry, Key Lime Yogurt Covered Pretzels, Mini Sea Salt Caramels, Teal M&Ms, Diced Coconut, Demitasse Rock Candy Sticks.

Got this super cute banner from Banner St. Boutique!

Saw these adorable cupid donut hole glitter arrows on Squirrelly Minds and thought they would be perfect for our dessert table... I mean, come on! Some glitter scrap book paper, skewers, donut holes, a little hot glue and... voila!

Adorable assorted blue, green and brown macarons from Macaron Café and beautiful bundt cakes from Mazzola Bakery.

For center pieces, I ordered some assorted potted succulents from San Pedro Cactus and these 12" x 12" x 3" wood trays from Jamali Garden. They went with our overall color theme and were then re-purposed for the rehearsal dinner.

I didn't want a lot of traditional bridal shower games, but saw some Bridelibs (like Madlibs) and thought it would be a fun game for the table and something for my sister to keep afterwards.

We also played a game of "He Said, She Said." (a la Newlywed Game) I asked my sister's fiancé a bunch of random questions and then we asked her what his response would be. "What do you love most about Katie?" Steven: "Her eyebrows." Huh?! Hey, Man... to each their own!

To end on a sweet note... I made some yummy blue & green ombré cake jars with little wooden spoons for the favors.

We also had some boxes for people to take home some treats to share... it wasn't coming home with me!!
