Elphaba's Apothecary
A Wicked Inspired Spa Party
Lotions, and potions, and soaps, oh my!
My six year old son has been saying he wanted a spa birthday party for some time. Then, shortly after Christmas, I took him to see Wicked on Broadway. He had such an amazing time and on the way home he told me he wanted a "Wicked Spa Party!"
Andddd... Then I spent about 3 weeks wracking my brain on how we could tie those two things together. Sigh.
So—In the spirit of alternate endings—what if Elphaba moved to the Emerald City and used her wizardry to open an apothecary and spa with wonderful, botanical concoctions?? I give you Elphaba's Apothecary!!!
I don't know about you, but when I was a kid I loved to play store! I set up the living room like an apothecary where the kids could come and shop for all of the fun stuff that they usually aren't allowed to touch!
I spent about a month experimenting and creating our very own line of products. Lots of trial and error. Some hits. Some misses. But, in the end, I think we had a lot of great creations... Aloe Green Tea Face Scrub [finish listing products...]
The kids loved these fun cupcake bathbombs.
I had so much fun experimenting with DIY beauty products. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a lot of these
Eucalyptus shower melts are great additions to the shower during cold and flu season. The eucalyptus essential oil and steam is really great for clearing up congrstion.
Hydrating facial mists in tangerine, rose water and lavender.
This Orange Honey Body Wash was one of my favorites.
The grown-ups got in on the action too!
Vanilla Chai Sugar Scrubs, Fiji Date & Lemon Peel, as well as Lime, Rosemary and Grapefruit Room Sprays and Foaming Hand Soaps. Pretty sure I am NEVER buying hand soap again!! It's so easy to make and smells amazing.
Lavender Mint Hand Sanitizer & Aloe Lime Hand Sanitizer
Orange Zest Soap and Frankincense & Peppermint Charcoal Soap. This one smelled amazing, but was gone by the end of the party. I might just have to whip up some more for myself!
So many soaps. Honey Oatmeal, Chamomile, Pink Himalayan Salt & Pink Grapefruit and Vanilla Latte.
Lime Zest. Lemon Lavender.
The kids had manicures and pedicures
Our helpers wore these white lab coats with Elphaba's Apothecary buttons.
I tied sprigs of faux lavender (it's February!) to white cloth napkins and we used these cool disposable plates made out of palm leaves.
The drink station was setup with cool beakers and glass straws for the adults and plastic mason jars with lids for the kids. There was a delicious PIMM'S Blackberry and Elderflower cocktail for the adults.
Non-alcoholic beverages: Rosé with Rosehips, White Grape with Elderflower & lemon, lime and orange spa water.
Our treat table was filled with lots of green goodies.
These marshmallow, tootsie roll nail polishes were a lot of fun!
All of our guests received a comfy, white, fluffy bathrobe and some grey flip flops to use during their stay at the spa and to take home with them at the end of the party. I love a favor that I know they will get some use out of later!
