Fire Truck Birthday Party
Little Boys, Little Boys.
Well...big ones too! When the boys turned 1 and 3, I decided to go with a fire truck themed party. Preston was officially ob-sessed with fire trucks... as made evident by the lotsoffiretrucks DVD I had to watch on a permanent loop. "I'm seeing lots and lots of fire trucks!"
I started with a birthday logo and went from there. I had a lot of fun with this theme! Lots of printables!
We went with BBQ. It seemed fitting for the occasion. Ehh—not so much for this vegetarian—but everyone else loved it.
We also had lots of cool fire-themed food. Fiery (Ombré) Fruit Kabobs, Pretzel Matchsticks (sooo cute, but an idea I began to regret half way through hand-dipping pretzel sticks into candy melts!!!), Marshmallows dipped in white chocolate with sprinkles, and bell peppers cut to look like flames coming out of the bowl.
Fire extinguisher water bottle labels and cut out printable labels for people to label their drink cups.
I love these cute fire hydrant cups from Birthday Express. I made little tags for each kid using the boy's faces.
I have mentioned my obsession with cardboard boxes before. I love decorating with boxes because it is easy and affordable. One of my favorite projects for this party was the building blocks. I printed black and white building facades on full sheet labels paper and affixed them to these 8x8x8 corrugated cube boxes from Uline.
The kids had such a great time building them up and knocking them over!
I filled our glass cabinets with black and white photos of these gorgeous little boys.
Bluebird Confections (the same one responsible for THIS amazing cake) made us this gorgeous fire truck cake that was the shining star of the dessert table!!
The kids couldn't keep their hands off of it ;)
And, what goes better with cake than milk??
You knew there had to be a candy table somewhere at this party, right!? All fire truck themed – Licorice Fire Hoses, Tootsie Rolls, Dalmatian Taffy, Hot Tamales, Fireman Poles, Fireballs and Gummy Sirens. I wrapped the glass candy jars with red and yellow washi tape and made themed labels for each one. I made these cute little signs using the same face/helmet photo of the boys and added some fun phrases.
Stop, Drop & (Tootsie) Roll Bags for the kids (and adults!) to fill with candy.
Another project that I had a lot of fun with was these little jars filled with rock candy. I took the same building facades that I used with the building blocks and shrunk them down for the front of these adorable little 9oz glass jars. The lids came in gold, so I spray painted them fire engine red. I cut out some of the doors and windows so the fire would show through. Then, I layered them with red, orange and yellow rock candy crystals.
How cute are these fire truck and fire hydrant lollipops from SandiPopLollies!?
We had boxes of Hot Tamales that I tied little 2 1/2" plastic dalmations to with butcher's twine.
Thanks so much to Chris at hireafiretruckny.com and hireafiretrucknj.com for sending the coolest fire truck! Chris told us all about the truck and the equipment. The kids got to climb around inside and take rides in the truck. So fun!!!
I like getting favors that the kids will keep using. For this party, I went with an 8.5" red galvanized pail from (obviously) www.galvanizedpail.com and filled them with these fun fire extinguisher water guns and a fire truck wheelie book... plus all of the candy they could fit in kraft paper take out containers! I used red, orange and yellow tissue paper to look like flames and made a cute "Thanks For Getting Fired Up With Us!" tag.
Poor little buddy was all tuckered out!
