Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in party planning, home renovation, organization and art. Hope you have a nice stay!

Tacos and Trucks

Tacos and Trucks

Taco'bout a big boy!

Another year in the books! Boy, two came way too quickly for this mama! And with the twos came lots of opinions. He wanted a "truck pah-ty" and he made that very clear! I—on the other hand—was like, "Seriously!? Another truck party!?! Booooooo!!!!" But, instead of fighting it (okay, fine I fought it and still lost), I decided to just roll with it. Trucks it is. And... who doesn't love tacos.

I designed these fun invitations with this adorable red truck with some tacos in the back.

And then—as if it sprung from the paper—I was lucky enough to find almost the exact same, real-life, red truck!! How cool is this thing?? It is definitely not normal to be this excited about a 63 yr old piece of metal! The boys were pretty excited too!

I used the bed of this beauty to set up a yummy taco bar. So much fun!

The night before, I cut up all of the toppings and put them in these Weck tulip jars, so set-up was super simple the day of the party.

These cardboard truck containers were a no-brainer for serving up some tacos and some fun! They come in all sort of styles and colors, and the kids loved them!

Ice cold Jarritos Mexican sodas were a perfect refreshing treat on a hot day.

The talented AyMujer custom designed these amazing tacos & trucks papel picado in our party colors. They were just the right touch. I didn't want to take them down when the party was over!

This Famous Oto taco truck was a fun little playhouse for the kids to play in.

I created this Tacos & Trucks themed Loteria (think: Mexican Bingo) game for the party.

I was so happy with the results that I used larger print outs of the cards to decorate the cabinets in the dining room.

Luche Libre have to eat too...

I "planted" a bunch of these faux succulents with pea gravel in various El Pato cans and used them for decoration all around the house.

I also bought a bunch of vintage/replica pick-up trucks and gave them to Grey for his actual birthday, just so I could in turn use them to decorate the party. Ha! He calls them his taco trucks. (Awwwww!)

We served up lemonade in these cute plastic mason jar cups with red metal lids. I used these chalkboard mustache labels to write the names of our party guests.

I put out a small Mexican candy bar. For some reason the chili covered candy wasn't a big hit with the little kids. It might be the most candy I have ever had left over at the end of a party.

How cool are these little painted nichos?! I had so much fun creating these little shadow boxes with photos from our recent family road trip. They are traditionally used to pay tribute to religious or popular culture icons.

These Oreo taco cookies from Erica's Sweet Tooth were perfect for our Mexican themed party!

And... Choco Tacos were an obvious and easy dessert option!!

In case ice cream filled tacos weren't your thing (and if they aren't— I don't know what is wrong with you!), Sugar Berry Sweets made me these adorable (and delicious!!) taco truck cookies. She didn't even bat an eye when a crazy lady (that's me) contacted her with an idea to combine a truck cookie with a taco cookie. Thank you, Sarah, for making my cookie dreams come true!!

I found these adorable Big Mouth Taco Truck Lunch Tote and had to have them for the party. I made a little sticker of Grey with a sombrero on (that I had created for the Loteria game) and put it in the window of the taco truck.

I filled the lunch tote with lots of fun stuff... Avocado stress balls (capable of preventing terrible two meltdowns? ...Not likely), colorful maracas, a toy taco truck, a "Taco Trucks on Every Corner" pin and a practical snack container that our guests can re-use with their lunch tote.

Diva Boutique Studio made this perfect red, vintage, truck piñata. And then I made a couple of little pinata style tacos for the back of it :)

I bought the family some fun, themed, taco shirts for the party; "Holy Guacamole", "Nachos Not Negativity", "When in Doubt Tacos", "$1 Tacos" and "I Hate Tacos, Said no Juan Ever".

I bought all of my nieces these adorable Mexican dresses. How cute are they!?!

We had so much fun with this little red truck and we were sad to let it go!

P.S. If you come over to our house any time in the next month, your gettin' tacos for dinner!
