Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in party planning, home renovation, organization and art. Hope you have a nice stay!

Wild Things Dance Party

Wild Things Dance Party

This year, they wanted a dance party.

It’s my own fault I’ve created (party) animals. I keep telling myself that they are getting older and “next year they will just want something small with just their close friends,” but the truth is... It’s so much damn fun! So... dance party it is!

I wanted a fun, bold party. Something that would be appealing to the kids and the adults as well. We went with black, white, kraft paper and neon yellow! The invitations are 4" x 6" postcards printed on Kraft paper. I used a TON of neon yellow gaffers tape everywhere, including the backs of the invitations. It rips in a nice clean line. And since neon is not a color that is coming out of my laser printer...It's a great way to add the pop of neon color without paying for printing it!

I always have one project that I start first and end last. These white spray-painted animals were the bane of my existence!! I purchased a bunch of plastic safari animals and the plan was to paint them neon. The neon spray paint wasn't covering, so I opted to spray-prime them white and then spray-paint them white. Each one of these bad boys has about 6 layers of paint on it!! They are topped off with some adorable neon party hats.

To add a special touch to the hotel's white table cloths, I created simple (and disposable) table runners. I used a giant roll of kraft paper and put diagonal stripes of the neon gaffers tape as well. I used the backs of the left over invitations and put animal facts on the front. We scattered these all over the tables for a little educational element.

Each table had a plastic container of Barbara's Snackimal animal crackers for snacking! Along with a large clear balloon filled with neon yellow confetti.

I made these fun animal necklaces with some twine, eye hooks, neon tassels and plastic animals. The kids loved them!

Our little party animals were perfectly adorned with these Party Ears Animal Headbands!

The kids had SUCH a good time dancing. The DJ was shocked by how crowded the dance floor was the entire time!

To add even more color in the large room, I ordered a bunch of neon honeycomb balls to hang from the ceiling above the dance floor. They were a great pop of color! I ordered these awesome "I am 4" and "I am 6" t-shirts from Ahoy Amigo. I even got an "I am New" one for the baby.

The kids had SUCH a good time dancing. The DJ was shocked by how crowded the dance floor was the entire time!! WILD THINGS!!!

I mean, would it even be a party if there wasn't an impromptu manicure session?

Of course there was a candy bar with every edible black, white, brown and neon thing that I could find (remember Little Debbie Zebra Cakes?!) And... How sweet is this neon and tassel garland from Funny Face Studios?! It was the perfect color combo for our sweet candy bar!

Our favors bags (so many favor bags!!!) were kraft paper with strips of gaffers tape (again with the gaffers tape!) filled with glow sticks, more Snackimals, stickers and animals pencils, and topped off with some neon tissue paper and a tag: "Thanks for Getting Wild!"

Safe to say, the kiddos loved it! Phew! now... what to do next year??
